ABOUT THE ROLE
Techno is looking for a Construction Inspector to support a citywide pedestrian accessibility program across New York City. This role is focused on field inspection of sidewalk, curb, and ramp construction, ensuring all work meets ADA requirements, contract specifications, and agency standards.
You will be active on-site in a fast-paced urban environment, monitoring construction activities, documenting progress, and helping maintain quality and compliance across multiple locations. This position is well suited for someone with hands-on inspection experience in public infrastructure and familiarity with NYC accessibility initiatives.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Perform field inspections of pedestrian infrastructure including sidewalks, curb ramps, curbs, and roadway interfaces
- Verify construction activities meet approved drawings, specifications, and ADA accessibility standards
- Maintain daily inspection reports with clear documentation of progress, site conditions, measurements, and photos
- Observe contractor operations, including materials, installation methods, and sequencing of work
- Identify and document non-compliant work, safety concerns, or field discrepancies, escalating as needed
- Track installed quantities and support documentation for progress and payment verification
- Participate in coordination meetings and provide updates on field conditions and project status
- Communicate with contractors, utilities, and project teams to resolve site issues efficiently
- Assist with punch list development, final inspections, and closeout activities
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3–5+ years of construction inspection experience on civil, transportation, or public infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of ADA requirements related to pedestrian ramps, sidewalks, and streetscape improvements
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Experience preparing detailed field reports and maintaining accurate inspection records
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across field and project teams
- Knowledge of construction safety practices within active urban work zones
- Experience on New York City public works projects is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with NYCDDC standards, procedures, or inspection protocols is a plus

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $50 - $60 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process.
