Requirements
At least 6 years of experience in software engineering or related technical roles.
The Hybrid Expert: Extensive experience with Shopify Plus (Liquid, Shopify API, App ecosystem) AND a strong background in PHP/MySQL (specifically PrestaShop or similar legacy frameworks).
Database Literacy: Comfort navigating AWS-hosted databases. You must be able to look at a custom SQL table and understand how to map that data to Shopify’s structure.
Architecture Mindset: Experience managing multi-store environments (internationalization, multi-currency, or multi-brand setups).
Project Leadership: Ability to manage an external agencies without being intimidated, ensuring they deliver "clean" code that you are happy to inherit
Fluent in English.
Responsibilities
Knowledge Absorption and Transfer: Work alongside our current technical stakeholders and the external agencies to "reverse engineer" business critical custom PrestaShop functionalities and database structures.
Agency Partnership: Serve as the internal "Quality Gate." You will review the agency's code, ensure the data migration (e.g. customers, orders, SEO redirects) is flawless, and hold them accountable to deadlines and best practices.
Technical Architecture: Help decide where critical custom PrestaShop features should live in the new stack - whether as Shopify Metafields, custom Private Apps, or third-party integrations.
Post-Migration Ownership: Once the agency completes the build, you will take the "keys to the kingdom," managing the codebase, troubleshooting issues, and implementing new features.
Continuous Growth: Identify opportunities to improve site speed, performance, and backend automation using the Shopify API and modern web technologies
