Remote | Open Source Contributor — $75–$90/hour

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced developers with strong open-source backgrounds and the ability to support high-quality coding challenge design, production-ready implementation, and structured technical workflows.

This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on structured technical workflows, benchmark development, technical evaluation, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will apply their software engineering expertise to design coding challenges, develop production-ready reference implementations, create comprehensive test frameworks, follow technical instructions with precision, and contribute to high-quality technical deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

Professionals in this role may contribute to:

Coding Challenge Design & Repository Development

• Design challenging coding problems with clear input/output specifications and explicit function signatures
• Develop complete mini-repositories including problem statements, reference solutions, and executable test runners
• Ensure repositories are fully executable with no missing dependencies or configuration issues

Implementation & Testing

• Write comprehensive unit tests covering edge cases, invalid inputs, and performance constraints
• Implement clean, production-quality code aligned strictly with test expectations
• Maintain high standards for modular design, code clarity, and reproducibility

Technical Quality & Workflow Support

• Support structured engineering workflows requiring consistency, precision, and strong technical judgment
• Apply strong understanding of clean code principles, modular architecture, and performance optimization
• Help maintain high standards for technical quality across coding and evaluation deliverables

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

• 3+ years of backend development experience
• Experience contributing to open-source software projects
• Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Rust, C++, C, COBOL, Java, Ruby, PHP, Python, TypeScript, Go, C#, or JavaScript
• Strong understanding of clean code principles, modular architecture, and performance optimisation
• Experience collaborating in Git-based development environments

Educational Background

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

Nice to Have

• Experience working with Docker and containerised development environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD workflows such as GitHub Actions
• Experience designing technical coding challenges or evaluation benchmarks
• Experience contributing to large-scale open-source infrastructure projects
